Swati Maliwal Alleges Assault at Kejriwal’s Residence, BJP Accuses AAP of Silencing Dissent

Swati Maliwal, an AAP MP and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has alleged that she was assaulted at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by his aide, Bibhav Kumar. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday morning when Maliwal visited the CM’s residence seeking a meeting with Kejriwal. After being denied the meeting, Maliwal made two emergency calls to the police, claiming she was assaulted.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police could not enter the CM’s residence due to protocol restrictions but later took Maliwal to the police station for questioning. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Maliwal has not yet filed a formal complaint. The incident has sparked significant political controversy, with the BJP accusing the AAP of attempting to silence dissenters. They also criticized the Delhi government for its alleged mishandling of the situation.

The case is further complicated by the fact that Bibhav Kumar, who was previously Kejriwal’s personal assistant, had been terminated last month following an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate for obstructing government work. The ongoing developments are likely to have significant political repercussions, especially given the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
